Announcing the public release of IFTF Map of the Decade 2022-2032: The Decisive Decade — The Reevaluation of Everything

Composed of an Executive Overview + 8 Topical Deep-Dive Reports and previously released exclusively to IFTF Vantage partners, we’re excited to now share this research with the public!

Join Quinault Childs (author of the deep-dive report on Food and the Climate Climate Crisis *and* IFTF Food Futures Lab Research Director) reflecting on this research, and asking strategic questions like:

CAN A FOOD SYSTEM DESIGNED FOR A STABLE CLIMATE INNOVATE ITS WAY INTO RESILIENCE AMIDST A RAPIDLY CHANGING OPERATING CONTEXT?

Our food system is experiencing the start of several major forces of change: 1) the chaotic and complex effects of the climate crisis; 2) rapid and unprecedented innovation in the food industry; and 3) the complications of global markets and politics. The ways these forces develop and interact over the next decade will set the stage for a more resilient system, but the specifics of that future system could vary widely.

Whatever a successful future food system looks like, it will demand increased efficiency of cropland while reducing CO2 and producing more food overall. In short, it will need to look significantly different than it does today. The next decade will be critical in setting up a transition to that future food system, and how we respond to those forces of change will determine our collective food future.
