At times, it can feel like you’re living in someone else’s long game. Social justice leaders are triaging a lot right now–and yet–it’s critical to imagine the future for ourselves.

If we envisioned a society 20 years from now where community care is the foundation of our collective decision-making, what steps and structures should we prioritize today? This was a question on the minds of community organizers like Connie Razza, PhD, Executive Director of Future Currents, an organization providing long-term strategy support to grassroots social movements. In 2022, Razza and Future Currents (formerly the Social & Economic Justice Leaders Project), led The Horizons Project, which held seven half-day sessions with more than 100 social justice leaders. They were asked to inhabit two futures scenarios — one hopeful and one scary — then consider the capacities and relationships needed in order to meet the emerging moment and create the future world that they want.

Join us when IFTF’s Chief Impact Officer, Rachel Hatch, will talk to Connie Razza about the foresight process behind The Horizons Project and how Future Currents is approaching the future of movement-building in the United States.
