Biography
Tessa Finlev
Since joining IFTF in June of 2008 Tessa has developed two clear focus areas. She has been working to further develop a knowledge base around African issues as well as working to bringing futures thinking to youth. Tessa is also in awe of the power of forecasting and is intrigued by how forecasting can be used to aide development work and conflict prevention and resolution.
Tessa moved to the Bay Area from Denmark at the age of 7. After earning her bachelors degree in Anthropology from University of California, Santa Cruz, Tessa joined the Peace Corps. At the end of a year long application process she received a letter inviting her to Kenya. Three months later Tessa was on a plane heading towards a new life in Kenya. She lived in Oloitokitok, a village on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, where she worked along side locals to implement community projects ranging from public health to community development. While in Kenya Tessa not only learned how to slaughter a chicken, but what it truly means to live off the land, and the importance of an economically just world.
As Program Manager for the Ten-Year Forecast Program Tessa is energized by the creative atmosphere surrounding the brilliant researchers at IFTF and grateful for her daily invitation to an intellectual buffet.
