Research
Position Summary
This position is responsible for providing day-to-day coordination and support of the IFTF Technology Horizons Research Program, and administrative support for the Program Director. The role includes coordination of research staff, meetings and projects, ongoing review of schedules and budgets, some outreach to clients and task teams, and conference and deliverable assistance as needed.
Primary Responsibilities
Support for ProgramDirector
- Anticipates the overall administrative needs of the Program Director, research team
- Assists Program Director coordinate his/her own schedule, appointments, and calendar
- Assists with proposal preparation as needed
Program Coordination
- Works with Program Director to establish annual budget
- Periodically monitors budgets for all private work
- Establishes and maintains annual Program and team calendar
- Provides project management support as needed
- Responsible for all Programmatic meetings (internal and external)
- Main attendee contact
- Manages all logistics (food, AV, all needs)
- Responsible for all meeting materials
- Schedules rehearsals and planning meetings
- Coordinates post-event with communications team
- Provides ongoing research Program and editorial assistance
1. Coordinates with research staff to ensure scheduling needs are met
2. Ensures all Program documents are formatted and prepped to be sent to developmental editor
3. Ensures necessary data is present and document is complete
4. Understands styles sheets and checks document against them
5. Finds and retrieves data as needed by a researcher
6. Has access to all Program archives and provides support when access is needed
7. Manages Signals database
8. Helps prepare and finalize presentations, as needed
Secondary Responsibilities
Program Client Communication
- Serves as a “go-to” person for Program clients
- Works with client communications manager to implement the “messages” of the Program and coordinate marketing needs
- Owns ongoing communication with clients based on annual calendar (reports, content, etc.).
- Manages and updates Program web site
- Sends welcome letters, password communications, and/or packages, etc. to new Program clients
Desired skills
5 - 7 years of administration, project management or coordination experience. Strong written ability is very important. Experience in managing multiple projects across a multi-faceted and diverse organization a plus.

Position Summary

If you are a developer or researcher with an interest in experimenting, designing, developing, and implementing collaborative technology tools—such as open-source online platforms and social software (blogs, wikis and other new tools) to support dynamic research processes—this is the job for you. Primary Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain IFTF.org
- Develop and implement collaborative tools, including program sites and beyond
- Develop new dynamic functionality for our intranet and program sites, coordinating with Communications Director on cohesive look and branding.
- Help researchers interact with clients online, incorporating new media such as video and visualization
- Build or manage relationship with contractors to build visual tools for IFTF's X2 Project
- Work in collaboration with the marketing staff to track online metrics of IFTF.org and to propose collaborative sites for specific clients.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Review research goals and objectives and advise researchers on appropriate tools to meet those objectives
- Train staff and IFTF network partners on new tools and software
- Support ongoing use of the tools in specific task settings
- Assist in the procurement of online services, software and hardware
Knowledge and Skills
- Drupal programming experience
- Strong computer skills; knowledge of Macintosh and PC platforms, and MS Office suite of programs
- Video editing (Quicktime/Final Cut)
- General knowledge of emerging information technologies areas is preferred
- Ability to communicate with research staff in a variety of forms (written and face-to-face)
- Ability to complete multiple projects successfully while meeting deadlines. Has a proactive approach in obtaining required information to complete a task
- This position requires a helpful, willing, cheerful attitude and ability to be flexible. Candidate should have a detail-oriented approach to work and should be a strong team player.
Education/Training
The technical experience required includes familiarity with Drupal core functionality, as well as the CCK and Views modules. This role involves taking input from researchers and clients, guiding and prioritizing those interests, and synthesizing into coherent, use-able project spaces. Ability to make modifications to PHP code is not necessary, although this would be a plus.
