Web Interface Design and Development Lead
Web Interface Design and Development Lead needed for Online Community project driven by user-generated content.
IFTF is involved in creating a global-scale forecasting community that will collaboratively inform and create knowledge about future science and technology developments worldwide. The site invites people at all levels of involvement with science and technology to participate in forecasting by contributing news and interpretations of possibly significant innovations. Part of the site runs collaboratively, like a wiki with multiple levels, and part of it runs like a simulation game where questions and scenarios about the future can be thrown at a broad audience.
This project is currently under development, and we need a experienced, motivated individual to lead the design and development effort. Ideal candidate has a strong background in interaction and / or web design, previous experience with building and managing online communities, and a hands-on approach to web development. You will be managing distributed teams of developers and graphic designers, so team management experience is essential. This is an incredible opportunity to drive the development of a large, public-facing project at an early stage.
Other skills this person might have are:
- Degree in HCI, Product Design, or related field
- Rapid prototyping skills
- Familiarity with user-centered design and usability principles
- Familiarity with heuristic evaluation and contextual inquiry methods
- Web programming / development experience
- Ability to evaluate technical choices related to backend infrastructure and interface frameworks.
We will consider both part-time and full-time applicants.
